Grégoire Stanislav Slavu, French sculptor of Romanian origin.

My sculpture is essentially based on the metamorphoses of the human body. I interpret the anatomy by accentuating and stylizing the forms to the point of abstraction, in a construction that I want to be balanced, calibrated like an architecture. I move away from the anecdotal to design volumes that fit into the space, whose tensions and sequences I develop, accentuated by the included energy and gives them autonomy.

The noble materials, bronze, marble, wood let me decide the aspect that my forms will take, evolving in the exchange between concave and convex, rounded and flattened, caressing curves and brutal curves. The envelope of my forms must enjoy the light; whether it is the sensual polish of marble or wood, the subtle patina of bronzes, I address myself as much to the gaze as to the touch.

"... from his beginnings, seduced by the states of organic reality, more than by the artifices of abstraction, he was able to instruct with determination a concise and modulated work based on the metamorphoses of the human body. Freed from the imposed norms by the constraints of the block, now aware of its powers and its objectives, its process is then constituted in an interpretation that is both free and measured of the figure, where the velvety of the curves, the accuracy of the falls and the slipped articulation of the connections, adjoin the rigor of the structural arrangements".
