Pavol ZELINA was born in Slovakia. His father and grandfather produced many paintings and works of art. Pavol drew and painted from early childhood and became a self-taught artist while pursuing a career as a neurobiologist.

Over the past 15 years, his artistic work has focused on deconstructing the process of producing a work of art and in particular the creation of a painting. He dissected the process from the initial moment of intending to paint to the moment of finishing a painting. His work explores and experiments with different aspects of the process such as decision making, tolerance for error, conscious control of paint placement, defining when to finish painting, etc.

Over time, these explorations have resulted in the creation of a specific style of work, which makes it possible to adopt various subjects and ideas to deepen the analysis and broaden this approach.

His approach to art and painting was influenced in particular by the Prinzhorn collection. Collection of works of art created by patients of mental institutions in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century.

Pavol ZELINA has lived and exhibited in Slovakia, Germany, the United States, France and the Netherlands.
